The Canal du Nivernais was built between the 18th and the 19th century. It’s in the 1980s that the Canal du Nivernais develops a growing tourist sector, it is now the 2nd French canal in level of attendance.
Between Nature and Confluence
From Auxerre to Saint-Léger-des-Vignes, le Canal du Nivernais is divided into five thematic stopovers. As closely as possible to at our destination, you will join the channel via the Stopovers Nature and Confluence.
Between Achun and Cercy-la-Tour, take the vélo route for a quiet ride without made uneven. Next to the port of Châtillon-en-Bazois, you can discover the castle of the 16th and 17th century which rises between the river and the canal.
To Cercy-la-Tour, let yourself be captivated by the charm of the leak which bottom in a landscape offering Morvan in a clear focus.
You have many places to be discovered, among whom the water gate of Mingot, the crypt of Alluy, the fountain of Chamont or still the dam with needles of Fleury to Biches.
