Fours takes its name from the ancient ovens once installed on a stretch of the Alène River for the processing of iron ore. In the 17th century, the glassworks were created, which would allow the economic development of the town. It would become the Verrerie Royale de Sainte-Catherine in 1779 and then the porcelain factory after the Revolution. The large hall of the master glassmakers, made of 18th century bricks, is still the pride of the village today. An association promotes this heritage.
